My name is Naznin Hébert. I am of Indian origin, born in East Africa. I studied nursing and midwifery in England in the early 70s. I am the mother of three beautiful grown-up daughters, including twins.
In Canada, I worked in obstetrics in a Montreal hospital from 1975 to 1990. After that, I worked in one of the CLSCs certified as "baby-friendly" and was a breastfeeding dossier holder for the CSSS. I'm also a breastfeeding trainer for Santé publique de la Montérégie and a Baby-Friendly Initiative evaluator for the CQA (Comité Québécois en Allaitement).
I've been a certified lactation consultant since 1997 and recertified in 2007, and am one of the founders of the AQC (Association Québécoise des Consultantes en allaitement). I'm also a member of ILCA (International Lactation Consultants Association).
In 1997, I set up the first breastfeeding clinic at CLSC Samuel de Champlain. The same year, I formed the breastfeeding support group "La mère à boire" Moms For Milk.
